Esther McVey MP reiterated her calls for a new medical centre for Knutsford – calling for the health secretary to make a statement on what more needs to be done to get the go-ahead.
Doctors say they desperately need more space and modernised facilities to meet the town’s needs and the current surgeries across Knutsford, which are all in Victorian buildings, are not suitable long term.
They want to merge and create a health and wellbeing hub which could also incorporate hospital consultant appointments, as well as other services.
Speaking in Parliament, the Tatton MP said: “Can the health secretary come to the House and explain what progress is being made in ensuring Knutsford gets its new medical centre, that health professionals the public and I believe are essential.”
Ms McVey previously met with health minister Stephen Kinnock setting to discuss the situation in Knutsford, but said keeping up pressure was essential, and she would keep raising the matter at every possible opportunity.
She added: “We need a modern medical centre and the community are united on this. It will bring so many benefits for patients, and I will keep doing everything I can to help get the go-ahead for this much needed facility.”
Ms McVey has been working with local GPs, the Integrated Care Board, NHS bosses, as well as stakeholders involved in the project.
