During the previous lockdown, Conservative Councillor, Tony Dean, championed the voice of Knutsford Residents and campaigned for Cheshire East Council to reverse their irrational decision to close the park.
Following a campaign supported by members of the public and the Conservative members of Knutsford Town Council, Cheshire East Council eventually decided to re-open the parkland to the public – after much deliberation and unnecessary delay.
Speaking on the matter, Councillor Tony Dean said: “I am very pleased to see that CEC heeded our earlier campaign and this time decided to keep the parkland open from the off-set. Like most Knutsford residents, I have thoroughly appreciated the ability to walk in the parkland during lockdown.”
Conservative Councillor on Knutsford Town Council, Matthew Robertson said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Councillor Dean for all he did to push CEC to rethink the ludicrous decision to shut the parkland. And to thank CEC for consulting with Knutsford representatives before making decisions that directly affect our town, and for keeping the parkland open this time.’
