Mobberley Councillor Hannah Moss has rejoined the Conservative Group on Cheshire East Council.

Cllr Moss was elected as a Conservative for Mobberley in 2023 but joined the Independent Group last year. She has now left the Independent Group and returned to take the Conservative whip.

The news was welcomed by both the local Conservative MP Esther McVey and the Conservative Group Leader on Cheshire East Janet Clowes.

Hannah said: “I’m delighted to be back with the Conservative family. I voted with the conservative group this week against the Labour budget and I voted against the reduction in bin collection and the closure of local tips.

“It had become abundantly clear that I agreed with the Conservative group on the issues that affect my constituents. The Independent Group of Councillors are propping up the Labour Council in Cheshire East which is getting so many things wrong, and I couldn’t be true to my conscience or my constituents by remaining in a group which is supporting Labour. I am delighted to be back in my true political home and I am very grateful to my Conservative colleagues for giving me such a warm welcome back in the fold.”

Esther McVey the Conservative MP for Tatton said: “I’m delighted Hannah is once again the Conservative Councillor for Mobberley. Hannah has grown up in Mobberley, knows and loves the area, and works extremely hard across the ward. We were very disappointed when she joined the Independent Group, but are delighted she is back in the Conservative Group where she belongs and where she is very welcome.

“Hannah’s experience shows clearly that a vote for so called Independents in Cheshire East is in reality a vote for a Labour Council”
