Tatton MP Esther McVey flicked the switch and lit up Lostock Gralam as the countdown to Christmas begins.
Crowds thronged the green at the Junction of Manchester Road and Station Road to watch the lights being switched on, as children from Lostock Gralam C of E Primary School treated them to some Christmas carols.
Ms McVey said: “It was a real honour to be asked to switch on the lights and I am really pleased the Parish Council invited me to take part. It was such a lovely community event and a great evening was had by all. The children’s choir made the event special and it was great meeting some of them and their families.”
Jacky Beasant, Chairman of the Parish Council compered the event and added: “Thank you to Esther for taking time out of her busy schedule to switch on the Lostock Gralam Christmas tree lights. The light switch on was another great success and thanks to the Lostock Gralam Cof E Primary school choir who were amazing. The light switch on is always a great way to bring the Community together, it was lovely to see everybody having a great time”.
After the switch on hot dogs and mulled wine were served in the church hall. All the children who sang were given a selection box from the local community.
