Esther with Young People

A group of young people wanting to make a difference across Tatton will go out and chat with peers about what needs to happen across the area and how it can happen.

The group, which met for the first time at the weekend, will then work with Tatton MP Esther McVey so she can raise their concerns in Parliament.

Ms McVey said: “It is so important to connect with young people as they are the future. Young people will more than likely talk to their peers so it is a great way of getting to the heart of What young people want and need and how we can all work together to achieve it.”

The idea for a group came after Ms McVey was contacted by young people ahead of May’s General Election, including Alistair Nicol and meeting head boy and girl of Wilmslow High School Joe McBride and Georgia Brown at their school hustings.

Ms McVey added: “The group are from Wilmslow but will connect with their age group across all of Tatton to find out key issues and also offer up solutions. I will work with them on that and raise the issues in Westminster.

“Too many feel disconnected from the community they live in and it is amazing these youngsters want to get involved and see their communities thrive. I have met some bright and talented young people across the constituency and I am really excited about what we can achieve together.”
